The Organization Committee oversees the finances, does fundraising and directs communications.

Economic Development

Economic Development meets ad hoc at the MDC office.

The Economic Development Committee works on retaining and recruiting businesses; keeps a property inventory list; offers workshops and seminars (mostly free); responsible for a in depth market analysis through surveying; and now will embark on an aggressive retail recruitment plan with the city.

Promotions Committee meets quarterly at RRCA or other large business locations at 6 p.m.

The Promotions Committee is in charge of organizing and implementing small and large events within the Main Street/Arts District area. Events include:

  • Feb, Mar, Apr - seasonal retail events
  • May - Multi-Cultural Event - Levoy Theatr
  • June - Artists' Walk of Fame Inductions - Plein Air Art Exhibit
  • 4th of July Festival and Fireworks
  • July - Aug - Art Creates Excellence (youths - 7 to 18 years)
  • Sept - Community Day & Block Party
  • Oct - Open Artists' Studio Tour
  • Oct - Ghost Tour
  • Nov - Small Business Saturday and Holiday Dazzle
  • Dec - Soul of the Season
  • Third Friday - "art walk" every month

Promotions Committee Announcements


Design Committee meets on the 1st Tuesday of each month at 10:30 a.m. at the MDC office.

The Design Committee works on the overall physical improvements of the Main Street/Arts District area. Accomplishments since 2005 include dozens of facade rehabs and total makeovers; Wayfinding signage; input into signage ordinance and recommendations for code enforcement; cleanliness of the area.
