Driving Miss Daisy

Alfred Uhry's Pulitzer Prize-winning play Driving Miss Daisy, the inspiration for the Academy Award-winning film of the same name, tells the story of two unlikely friends. When 72 year old, Jewish and wealthy Miss Daisy drives her 1964 Chrysler into her neighbor's yard, her son buys her a new car and hires a chauffeur, Hoke Colburn, an elderly black man. What begins as a troubled and hostile pairing, soon blossoms into a profound, life-altering friendship that transcends all societal boundaries placed between them. Driving Miss Daisy has become one of the most beloved American stories of the late twentieth century.
