This is a Lampworking Glass Class that will focus on skills needed to get to the finish line of your sculptures and revel he glory of completion. Using pre-made components and freestyle construction, assembly, finishing methods, and why we strive to complete a project for the ultimate satisfaction as a maker. A CC, Bunsen burner and a Mini hand torch (all provided) will be used, along with many other hand tools, to construct and complete a complicated sculpture over the course of the class. (Students should bring every tool they can so we can mimic working in their own shop.) We will also cover sculpting techniques in solid and hollow borosilicate. All color use will be referenced and discussed to show varieties of finishes and tips for working in solid, hollow, murrine, kiln striking, and more. Bring pieces you are working on that you would like for me to help you with in any way. Bring a sketchbook and your imagination. By the end of this class you will be ready to attack your old and new work that is waiting to be completed no matter what it is. -Mike Shelbo
